Motorcyclist In Jalan Kuching Six-Vehicle Crash Suffers Torn Scalp, Broken Hip And Leaking Lung

Date:

A motorcyclist seriously injured in a six-vehicle crash along Jalan Kuching in Kuala Lumpur is facing further surgery after suffering a torn scalp, a fractured left hip and a leaking left lung.

Ahmad Safwan Yahya remains under treatment at Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL), where he is scheduled to undergo surgery for his hip injury.

His sister, Akmar Yahya, shared an update on Threads, revealing that her brother underwent surgery at 3.46pm last Tuesday to stitch up his torn scalp.

“We are now waiting for his next treatment, which is surgery for his fractured left hip and leaking left lung,” she said.

Akmar also expressed concern that her brother’s recovery could take a long time, potentially preventing him from returning to work as usual.

She said the situation had raised worries about how his family would cover their daily expenses, as Ahmad Safwan has a wife and three children to support.

“Who will cover the daily expenses when my younger brother has a family to feed, including his wife and three children?

“During his recovery, my brother’s family will have no source of income because his wife does not work,” she said.

Akmar also questioned whether the driver of the BYD involved in the crash had been under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident, and called for a transparent investigation.

She expressed hope that the court would deliver a fair decision based on the available evidence, including dashcam footage which she claimed clearly showed what happened.

In the same post, Akmar extended her condolences to the family of five-year-old Asiah Ahmad Syahir, who died in the crash.

Kosmo! Online previously reported that the collision occurred at about 3.44pm on Oct 10 and involved a BYD Seal, Perodua Bezza, Nissan Almera, Toyota Alphard, Perodua Myvi and a Yamaha 135LC motorcycle.

Preliminary investigations found that the Perodua Bezza carrying Asiah and her father was travelling from the city centre towards Segambut when it was rear-ended by the BYD Seal amid slow-moving traffic.

Asiah suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead while being taken to HKL.

On Oct 15, BYD Seal driver Raeven Goh Wey Haur, 24, pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate’s Court to three charges related to the crash, including dangerous driving that caused Asiah’s death.

The charges were brought under Sections 41(1), 42(1) and 52(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
