A motorcyclist in his 30s was killed after allegedly riding against traffic and crashing head-on into a Toyota Vellfire at Km 59 of Jalan Kuantan-Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday.
The victim, who was riding alone on a Honda Wave motorcycle, died at the scene in the accident, which occurred at around 4pm.
Maran police chief Superintendent Wong Kim Wai said the Toyota driver was travelling from Kuantan towards Sri Jaya when the motorcyclist, who was riding against the flow of traffic, collided with the vehicle.
“The motorcyclist died at the scene due to severe injuries, while the Toyota driver was unhurt,” he said in a statement.
A one-minute dashcam video of the crash, recorded by the Toyota driver, has since gone viral.
The footage showed the Toyota negotiating a bend before colliding with the oncoming motorcyclist, who was flung onto the road upon impact.
Wong said the case remained under investigation and urged anyone who witnessed the incident to contact investigating officer Inspector Muhaimin Omar at 017-9436741.
