A man in his 50s was killed after his car collided with a lorry on Jalan Kuala Lumpur–Ipoh near the Five petrol station in Kalumpang, Hulu Selangor, on Wednesday morning.
The crash occurred at about 7.15am as the victim was travelling from Batang Kali towards Ulu Bernam.
Hulu Selangor district police chief Superintendent M. Manimaran said the motorist is believed to have lost control of his car after hitting a wild boar that crossed the road from the left.
The car then veered into the opposite lane, where it was struck by an oncoming lorry driven by a man in his 30s who was unable to avoid the collision.
“The victim was pronounced dead at the scene before his body was taken to the forensic unit at Kuala Kubu Bharu Hospital for a post-mortem,” Manimaran said in a statement.
The lorry driver escaped without injuries.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact traffic investigating officer Inspector Nurul Anati Zulkifli at 03-6064 1222 or visit the nearest police station.
