A Malaysian family travelling in Italy was left devastated after all 11 pieces of their luggage were allegedly stolen from their car while they stopped for a meal in Pisa.
The incident was shared by Threads user @njlaimn, who expressed sadness after a friend and the friend’s family reportedly fell victim to the theft while travelling from Pisa to Milan.
The situation became more concerning when the family allegedly managed to track their missing iPad to an area believed to be a gypsy camp.
The discovery raised concerns over the family’s safety, while the person sharing the incident also expressed disappointment over the local authorities’ alleged response.
The case prompted netizens to share their own experiences and warn travellers against leaving luggage unattended inside vehicles.
One commenter advised tourists to travel directly from their hotels or accommodation to the airport without making unnecessary stops.
“Never leave luggage unattended in a parked car, even if it is locked,” the commenter warned.
Another user, faryhayakob, cautioned travellers against leaving expensive branded luggage, such as Rimowa suitcases, inside cars in public areas, saying they could become targets for thieves.
“Leaving bags like that in a car is practically asking to be robbed in Italy. Make the effort to send your luggage to your accommodation first, then go out sightseeing,” another commenter, fakamal, wrote.
Meanwhile, other netizens expressed sympathy for the family and hoped their difficulties would be eased and that they would be able to return home safely.
“What a difficult ordeal. May Allah make everything easier for them,” one commenter wrote.
