Myvi’s Sudden Lane Change Nearly Causes Crash, Driver Gets Confronted At Traffic Lights

Date:

A white Perodua Myvi nearly caused a traffic accident after abruptly swerving into the fast lane to avoid a lorry, prompting a frightened motorist to slam on the brakes and repeatedly sound the horn.

The incident, which was captured on a dashcam and shared on Threads, reportedly occurred at 11.54am today along a road from Puchong towards the Malaysian Heavy Industries Corporation (HICOM).

The footage shows the Myvi suddenly cutting from the middle lane into the right lane, narrowly avoiding the road divider while nearly colliding with a car travelling normally in the fast lane.

A female passenger in the car could be heard screaming in fright as the driver braked sharply and sounded the horn to warn the Myvi driver.

Angered by the dangerous manoeuvre, the driver was heard shouting at the Myvi driver, apparently still shaken by the near miss.

The confrontation did not end there. When traffic backed up at a set of traffic lights ahead, the Myvi was forced to stop, giving the aggrieved driver an opportunity to confront the other motorist.

Dashcam footage shows the driver stopping behind the Myvi, getting out of his vehicle and quickly approaching the car to demand an explanation.

He can be seen angrily reprimanding the Myvi driver over the sudden lane change before eventually turning around and returning to his own vehicle.

The Myvi driver did not appear to retaliate during the confrontation. It remains unclear what happened after the two drivers went their separate ways.

The video has since sparked heated discussion online, with many netizens criticising the Myvi driver’s alleged recklessness and accusing the motorist of putting other road users at risk while attempting to avoid the lorry.

“Driving is not racing, and you can’t just overtake whenever you want!” one netizen joked.

Another commented that sudden lane changes were particularly frightening because they left nearby drivers with little time to react.

One netizen also questioned whether avoiding a single lorry was worth potentially endangering innocent motorists.

However, some users cautioned that while the driver’s anger was understandable, getting out of a vehicle to confront another motorist could also put personal safety at risk and potentially escalate the situation.
