Police have arrested a man to assist investigations into a fight that left another man dead at Jalan Mandolin 33/5, Taman Alam Megah, here, on Tuesday.
Shah Alam district police chief Assistant Commissioner Sarudin Samah said police were alerted after receiving a call from a member of the public reporting a fight at the location. Preliminary investigations indicated that the incident occurred at about 2pm.
“CCTV footage showed a group of men involved in a fight before an alleged machete attack took place among them.
“A blue Perodua Alza was also seen hitting one of the suspects, causing the man to die at the scene,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.
Following the incident, the case was referred to the Shah Alam district police Criminal Investigation Department’s Operations Team to identify and track down those involved.
Sarudin said the team subsequently arrested an Indian national to assist with the investigation. Police are continuing efforts to trace other individuals believed to have been involved.
The incident had earlier attracted attention on social media after dashcam footage showed several people running at the scene, while two individuals were seen lying on the road. Initial claims suggested the victims had been attacked with a machete, although further details were still being established.
The Shah Alam district police Criminal Investigation Department has opened an investigation paper and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
Sarudin urged the public not to speculate about the incident or the individuals involved, saying such claims could interfere with the investigation. Police are expected to continue examining CCTV recordings and other evidence to establish the full sequence of events leading to the fatal incident.
