Blogger Papagomo has once again been acquitted and discharged by the Klang Sessions Court over allegations that he made seditious remarks linking the government to Israel and the West, three years ago.
Judge Siti Aminah Ghazali delivered the ruling today after finding that the defence had successfully raised reasonable doubt against Papagomo, whose real name is Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris, 43.
According to the charge, Wan Muhammad Azri allegedly made the seditious remarks on the Facebook account ‘Halid Hamidi (Halid Mat Kool)’. The remarks were reportedly viewed by an individual at a condominium unit along Jalan Tong Shin in Bukit Bintang at 1pm on November 8, 2023.
He was charged under Section 4(1)(b) of the Sedition Act 1948, which carries a penalty under Section 4(1) of the same Act.
If convicted, he could face up to three years in prison, a fine of up to RM5,000, or both.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohamad Mustaffa P Kunyalam handled the prosecution, while Wan Muhammad Azri was represented by lawyer Muhammad Rafique Rashid Ali.
On September 3, 2025, the same judge had acquitted and discharged Papagomo over the same charge after the prosecution failed to establish a prima facie case against him.
The prosecution subsequently appealed to the High Court, which allowed the appeal and ordered Papagomo to enter his defence.
