The General Operations Force (PGA) Eastern Brigade has seized two excavators and a trailer worth an estimated RM1.8 million in an operation believed to be linked to illegal silica sand extraction.
Eastern Brigade PGA Commander, Senior Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Radzi Hussain said the seizure was carried out under Op Bersepadu Khazanah following intelligence gathered at around 1am in Kampung Jambu Bongkok.
He said surveillance teams from the Kuantan PGA Intelligence Unit observed two men at the site where silica sand extraction activities were allegedly being conducted using excavators to load material into a trailer.
A raid was then conducted, and both individuals were asked to present identification documents and permits related to the activity.
One of the suspects, a 33-year-old excavator operator, failed to produce any valid licence or authorisation for the sand extraction activities.
Officers also discovered equipment believed to be used for mining or extracting silica sand at the location.
A second suspect, a 37-year-old trailer driver, was also detained on suspicion of involvement in the illegal activity.
All seized items have been handed over to the Marang Land Office for further investigation and action.
The case is being investigated under Section 426 of the National Land Code 1965.
