Police Arrest Suspected Drug Syndicate Member, Seize RM116,500 Worth Of Drugs In Dungun Raid

Date:

Police have arrested a 25-year-old man believed to be a member of a drug trafficking syndicate following a raid on a rented house in Kampung Kertas Pulas, Kuala Abang, where officers uncovered a large stash of illegal drugs.

The raid, conducted at about 5am on Tuesday, resulted in the seizure of Yaba pills, methamphetamine and heroin with a combined estimated value of RM116,546.30.

Dungun police chief Superintendent Nik Ab. Halim Nik Mat said initial investigations indicate the suspect acted as the caretaker of the syndicate’s drug storage house.

He said the syndicate is believed to have begun operating in the district earlier this year, around January.

During the operation, police seized 712.7g of Yaba pills, 402.5g of methamphetamine (syabu) and 200.2g of heroin.

“The drugs seized are estimated to be enough to supply about 7,000 drug users,” he said during a press conference at the Dungun District Police Headquarters.

Nik Ab. Halim added that checks revealed the suspect has two previous drug-related criminal records.

Police are continuing investigations to identify and track down other members of the syndicate.
