Police Clamp Down On Illegal Street Racing With 73 Traffic Offences Recorded

Date:

A total of 73 summonses were issued for various traffic offences during Op Samseng Jalanan conducted by the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division of the Baling District Police Headquarters (IPD Baling) at Kampung Bukit Pak Kuning, Kuala Ketil on Saturday.

Baling district police chief Superintendent Brandon Richard Joe said the operation, carried out from 5pm to 1am, aimed to curb illegal street racing activities and enhance road safety for all road users.

He said the enforcement action included the seizure of 23 motorcycles under Section 64(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for further investigation and legal proceedings.

In a broader road safety context, such operations are part of ongoing nationwide efforts to reduce dangerous riding behaviour, particularly among younger riders, which continues to contribute to road accident statistics.

Throughout the operation, police inspected 67 individuals and 61 vehicles, uncovering multiple traffic violations that led to the issuance of 73 summonses.

The operation also involved support from General Operations Force personnel from IPD Baling to strengthen enforcement efforts on the ground.

Authorities said the coordinated effort was carried out to identify and take action against individuals engaging in traffic offences that could endanger public safety.

Police also reminded the public, especially youths and motorcyclists, to strictly comply with traffic regulations and avoid illegal riding activities.

They warned that such behaviour not only puts the riders at risk but also endangers other road users, potentially leading to serious accidents, injuries or fatalities.
