Police Confirm Two Missing Individuals Found Dead In Sungai Kedah

Date:

Two bodies found drowned in Sungai Kedah today were confirmed to be individuals who were reported missing two days earlier.

Kota Setar district police chief ACP Syed Basri Syed Ali said the first victim, Saw Chee Wan, 16, was believed to have left his home on June 12.

He said the teenager was identified by family members through a necklace pendant worn by the victim.

Based on family information, the teenager, who was a person with disabilities (OKU) with learning difficulties, was reported missing from his home in Kampung Seberang Perak.

Police said the body was discovered by cleaning workers from the Alor Setar City Council (MBAS) at about 9am today.

The second victim was identified as a 46-year-old Muslim convert, Muhammad Amin or N Thiagarah, who was from Tanjung Bendahara and was also reported missing on the same date.

Police said investigations found that the man was a psychiatric patient.

Both bodies were found about 100 metres apart, but police said investigations showed there was no connection between the two cases.

Forensic officers from the Kedah Contingent Police Headquarters inspected the scene and found no elements of foul play.

The case has been classified as sudden death.
