A woman experienced a terrifying ordeal when she was allegedly molested by an unknown man while walking home from work in Setia Alam on Tuesday.
Shah Alam district police chief ACP Sarudin Samah said police received a report from the victim, who is in her early 20s, at 9.06pm on the same day.
He said the incident occurred at about 7.10pm when the victim was walking alone through a quiet lane in a residential area.
“The victim was suddenly attacked from behind by an unknown man,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.
Sarudin said the suspect, described as wearing a red shirt and black trousers, allegedly grabbed the victim, covered her mouth, and restrained her.
He added that the suspect also allegedly kissed and groped the victim before fleeing the scene.
The victim did not suffer any physical injuries, but police are actively tracking down the suspect to ensure public safety.
The case is being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code.
Police are urging members of the public with information to contact investigating officer Insp Muhammad Zamri Abdul Rahman or visit the nearest police station.
The incident went viral on social media after CCTV footage of the attack was widely shared online.
