Police are hunting several suspects after a goldsmith’s shop in an industrial area in Senawang was splashed with red paint in the early hours of today.
Seremban district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Yatim Osman said the incident occurred at around 2.50am, when several individuals believed to be involved threw plastic packets filled with red paint at the front of the premises.
“Checks at the scene found red paint stains on the floor outside the premises, the shutter door, walls and the shop’s signboard.
“No injuries were reported in the incident,” he told reporters today.
Mohd Yatim said preliminary investigations found that the same premises had been targeted in a similar incident in May, which had also resulted in a police report being lodged.
Police are now conducting further investigations, including obtaining CCTV recordings from the premises, identifying other CCTV cameras around the area and tracking down the suspects involved.
Members of the public with information that could assist the investigation have been urged to contact the police.
The case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for causing mischief resulting in damage.
Mohd Yatim also urged the public not to speculate about the incident and to leave the investigation entirely to the authorities.
