Police Probe Sexual Harassment Allegation Against Sabah Hospital Director

Date:

Police are investigating an allegation of sexual harassment involving the director of a government hospital in Sabah following a report lodged earlier this year.

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun said the alleged incident took place in October last year, while the police report was filed in January.

He said investigations had already begun long before the case gained attention on social media on Wednesday.

“The case only went viral on social media on Wednesday, but police have been investigating it under Section 509 of the Penal Code since January this year,” he said.

Jauteh added that further updates would be provided once investigations are completed.

Meanwhile, the Sabah Health Department (JKNS) said it is aware of the allegations and is treating the matter seriously.

In a statement, JKNS stressed that it has zero tolerance for any form of misconduct, particularly sexual harassment, sexual assault and workplace bullying.

The department said such behaviour goes against the integrity and ethical standards of the public service and can negatively affect the physical and mental well-being of healthcare workers.

JKNS added that appropriate action will be taken based on the outcome of the police investigation and any relevant internal procedures.
