Police Question Daycare Founder Over Alleged Child Abuse and SOP Violations

Date:

Police have recorded the statement of a daycare founder to assist investigations into one of the branch premises reportedly involved in Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) violations, including alleged abuse, which recently went viral on social media.

Shah Alam District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Ramsay Embol, said authorities have received nine additional reports related to the case.

“We have summoned individuals connected to the daycare branch, including the founder, to record their statements to aid the investigation. We are also reviewing licenses, approvals, and other related documents,” he said in a statement on Friday.

Earlier, on Thursday, police received three initial reports concerning the branch. Ramsay added that the police have also recorded statements from the influencer who exposed the incident and are inspecting CCTV footage at the branch premises.

The reports were made by parents, including one involving a child with autism. Some branches under investigation have yet to submit CCTV footage, and authorities plan to seize it if necessary.

The investigation is being conducted under Section 31(1) of the Children’s Act 2001.

The case gained public attention after a video reportedly shared by staff at a Shah Alam daycare showed an autistic child confined in a storeroom, crying, which quickly went viral.

Another video from the same daycare’s branch in Puchong, Selangor, surfaced showing a child being forced to crawl in a drain, allegedly to avoid inspection by the Social Welfare Department (JKM).
