Police Rule Out Bullying In Death Of 16-Year-Old Student

Date:

Police have confirmed that no criminal elements have been detected in the death of a Form Four student who was believed to have fallen from a school building in Sendayan last Friday.

Negeri Sembilan Police Chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said preliminary investigations and post-mortem findings indicated that the death of the 16-year-old girl was not linked to bullying or any other criminal activity.

“The post-mortem was conducted at the Forensic Medical Unit of Hospital Rembau on Friday night. The findings revealed that the cause of death was a head injury sustained after falling from a height,” he told reporters on Monday.

Alzafny said the case is currently classified as a sudden death report (SDR), although investigations are still ongoing to establish all circumstances surrounding the incident.

He added that police have so far recorded statements from between 10 and 15 individuals, including the victim’s parents, teachers and schoolmates, to assist in the investigation.

“We would like to advise the public not to make their own conclusions regarding this incident or spread unverified information. We also urge everyone to respect the privacy and feelings of the victim’s family,” he said.

Police previously reported receiving information about the incident at approximately 10.48am, after the student was found unconscious within the grounds of a secondary school.

She was later confirmed dead.

The tragedy also drew the attention of Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek, who visited and met the student’s family at the Forensic Medical Unit of Hospital Rembau.

Fadhlina had earlier urged the public to give the family space during this difficult period and respect their sensitivities while investigations continue.

She also said the Ministry of Education is fully cooperating with authorities in the ongoing probe.

Police said further investigations are being carried out before the case can be concluded.
