Police Urge Calm As Balai Undang Luak Rembau Eviction Issue Escalates

Date:

Police have urged all parties to avoid actions that could create public anxiety following a 24-hour eviction notice issued to vacate the Balai Undang Luak Rembau.

Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said authorities, particularly the Rembau District Police Headquarters (IPD), are closely monitoring the situation to ensure public order is maintained.

He said police would continue observing any actions or activities by any party that could potentially trigger unrest.

“Our priority is to ensure public safety and maintain peace at all times,” he told reporters during a press conference at the Negeri Sembilan Police Contingent Headquarters on Thursday.

Alzafny said the situation remains under control based on current monitoring, while urging all parties to handle the matter maturely.

Commenting on the 24-hour eviction notice, he said the matter falls under the jurisdiction of the local authority and the Rembau District and Land Office.

“If police assistance is required for the eviction process, our priority will be to ensure the situation does not lead to any disturbance.

“We also advise all parties to resolve the issue responsibly and follow the proper legal procedures,” he said.

Meanwhile, lawyer Emirul Sarifudin Nor Azmi, who represents Dato’ Sedia Raja Abdul Rahim Yasin, said discussions with the Rembau District Officer had resulted in an agreement to obtain a writ of possession from the court.

He said the decision was made to ensure the matter is resolved through legal channels rather than using a forceful approach.

“After discussions with the district officer this morning, it was agreed that no forced action would be taken and an application would be submitted through the State Legal Adviser’s Office to obtain a writ of possession from the court.

“This will allow the matter to be decided according to the law,” he said.

Emirul also claimed that several groups believed to be supporters of Haji Hassan had gathered outside Balai Undang Luak Rembau.

He urged all parties to respect the legal process and avoid any provocation that could disrupt public harmony.

He added that Abdul Rahim was proclaimed as Undang Luak Rembau on Aug 22, 2024 by the Luak Rembau authority and was officially confirmed through a Dewan Keadilan dan Undang (DKU) session on July 4, 2025.

“Until today, there has been no further advice from the DKU regarding his position as Undang,” he said.
