Policeman Dies After Being Ejected From Vehicle In Fatal Accident

A police officer was killed after the car he was driving lost control and crashed along the Pasir Puteh-Kota Bharu Federal Road near Simpang Kampung Banir Belikong on Friday night.

The 28-year-old victim, who was attached to the Setiu District Police Headquarters (IPD), was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe head injuries sustained in the accident.

Pasir Puteh District Police Chief Superintendent Saari Yaacob said police received information regarding the crash at 12.05am on Saturday.

He said initial investigations found that the victim was driving a Perodua Kelisa from Kota Bharu towards his home in Pasir Puteh when the vehicle was believed to have lost control upon reaching the location.

“The car skidded and the victim was thrown out of the vehicle following the impact.

“He suffered serious head injuries and was confirmed dead at the scene,” he said in a statement on Saturday.

The accident occurred at about 11.50pm at Kilometre 30 of the Pasir Puteh-Kota Bharu Federal Road.

Saari said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, with further investigations still ongoing.

Members of the public with information related to the incident have been urged to come forward and assist police investigations by contacting the nearest police station.
