Kesas Highway Tragedy Claims Woman’s Life After Out-Of-Control Car Collision

A woman was killed after the car she was travelling in was hit by another vehicle believed to have lost control along the Shah Alam Expressway (Kesas) on Friday night.

Shah Alam District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Sarudin Samah said the accident occurred at about 11.30pm at Kilometre 30.7 of the highway.

He said initial investigations found that the crash happened when a Nissan Almera driven by a local man in his 50s was believed to have lost control before colliding with a Perodua Axia.

“The Nissan Almera crashed into a Perodua Axia driven by a woman in her 20s, who was travelling with another female passenger in her early 30s and her son, a pupil from Sekolah Kebangsaan Seksyen 27(1), Shah Alam.

“The collision resulted in the Perodua Axia driver being killed, while the two passengers suffered injuries to their heads and faces,” he said in a statement on Saturday.

Sarudin said the injured victims were taken to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) Klang for further medical treatment.

He added that police are currently tracking down the Nissan Almera driver involved in the crash.

Members of the public with information regarding the incident have been urged to assist investigations by contacting the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (BSPT) investigating officer at the Shah Alam District Police Headquarters, Inspector Muhammad Najib Abdul Rahman, at 019-7757354.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
