Rescue Mission Launched After Woman Injured While Hiking In Raub

Date:

A female hiker was injured and is believed to have suffered a fractured leg after falling while trekking at Bukit Fraser in Raub on Saturday.

Pahang Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Division assistant director Mohd Salahuddin Isa said the incident involving the 43-year-old woman was reported at 12.13pm.

He said the victim was taking part in a hiking activity with 20 other participants and three mountain guides when the accident occurred.

Following the distress call, 10 personnel from the Raub Fire and Rescue Station, assisted by a certified Pahang mountain guide, were deployed to carry out the rescue operation.

The rescue team arrived at the base of the hill, located about 43 kilometres from the station, at 1.40pm before beginning a 2.7-kilometre trek to reach the victim.

Mohd Salahuddin said six firefighters and the mountain guide proceeded to the location where the victim was stranded, with the journey expected to take between two and three hours due to the terrain.

He added that the rescue operation was still ongoing at the time of reporting and further updates would be released once additional information becomes available.

The incident highlights the importance of safety precautions during outdoor activities, especially in remote and challenging hiking areas.
