Senior PDRM Officer Among Two Arrested by MACC Over RM8,000 Bribery Case

Date:

A senior female officer of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is among two individuals detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for allegedly soliciting and receiving a bribe of approximately RM8,000 to drop a case.

Sources revealed that both suspects, in their 30s, were arrested separately during operations on Friday and Saturday by MACC officers around Kuala Lumpur.

The bribery was reportedly intended as a payoff to halt the investigation of a fight-related case.

“Initial investigations indicate that both suspects allegedly colluded with a male intermediary who requested the RM8,000 bribe,” a source said.

“The male suspect is believed to have received the bribe in cash before passing it to the female officer, also in cash,” the source added.

Mohamad Zakkuan Talib, MACC Kuala Lumpur director, confirmed the arrests and said the case is being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009 for the female officer, while the male suspect is investigated under Section 16(a)(A) of the same Act.

Meanwhile, Magistrate Aina Azahra Arifin granted remand for the senior police officer from last Sunday until tomorrow. Another individual is remanded from last Saturday until this Friday by Magistrate Chan Jia Kay, following applications submitted by MACC at the Dang Wangi Police Headquarters and the Putrajaya Magistrate’s Court.
