A man’s plan to mow the grass at his mother’s house turned into a tragedy after he discovered the 87-year-old woman dead in a drain outside their home in Chengkau, Rembau, this morning.
The elderly woman was found lying face down in the drain at a village in Chengkau at approximately 9.45am.
Rembau district police chief Superintendent Ngiam Ooi Ming said police received information about the incident from the victim’s 66-year-old son.
“An initial police inspection at the scene found that the victim was an elderly woman. No signs of criminal activity were detected during the preliminary examination,” he said in a statement today.
The woman’s body was subsequently sent to the Forensic Unit at Rembau Hospital for a post-mortem to determine the actual cause of death.
Ngiam said the case had been classified as a sudden death report (SDR), with further investigations still ongoing.
