Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister Steven Sim has donated RM100,000 to SMA Al-Ahmadiah Al-Ijtimaiah in Seberang Prai Tengah, one of the oldest religious educational institutions in the area.
Sim, who is also the Bukit Mertajam member of parliament, said the contribution will be used to purchase five smart boards, which are expected to benefit 168 students at the 129-year-old school.
He said the initiative is aimed at ensuring the institution remains relevant in the face of rapid technological progress, while improving teaching effectiveness and classroom engagement.
“The integration of modern technology will not only enhance the learning experience for students, but also help reduce teachers’ workload and create a more interactive and contemporary educational environment,” he said in a statement today.
Sim also announced plans to contribute an additional three smart boards next year so that all classrooms at the school will be fully equipped with digital teaching tools.
During a visit to the school in Padang Lalang, Sim received briefings from the school management and gathered feedback on other needs to further strengthen the quality of education offered.
Last year, he contributed RM60,000 towards a Smart TV project and the provision of learning equipment for the school’s Islamic kindergarten (Tadika Islam, Tadis).
