Tanker Truck Driver Killed After Crashing Into Two Electricity Poles In Kluang

Date:

A 40-year-old tanker truck driver was killed after his vehicle crashed into two electricity poles and overturned into a bush along Jalan Yong Peng-Kluang near a shooting range on Thursday morning.

Kluang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Noh said the accident occurred at about 7.30am at KM68 of the road, involving Murugan Letchumanan, who was transporting animal feed.

Murugan was travelling from the Batu 4 traffic light junction towards the roundabout in Taman Sri Lambak when he allegedly lost control of the truck, causing it to veer off the road to the left, strike two electricity poles and overturn into a bush.

“He sustained severe injuries to his head and body and was pronounced dead at the scene,” Bahrin said in a statement.

The victim’s body was extricated by the Fire and Rescue Department before being taken to Enche’ Besah Hajjah Khalsom Hospital in Kluang for a post-mortem.

Bahrin said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Members of the public who witnessed the accident are urged to come forward with information to assist the investigation.
