Four men, including a school teacher, were arrested on suspicion of involvement in drug distribution activities following a police raid at a premises in Kampung Raja, Besut, early Friday morning.
The operation was carried out at approximately 1.30am after police intelligence indicated that the premises was being used for drug-related activities.
Besut District Police Chief Superintendent Mohd Rozaime Ab Rahim said officers discovered 21.70 grams of cannabis during the raid.
“An inspection of the premises led to the seizure of cannabis estimated to be worth RM1,085,” he said in a statement.
The four men who were present at the location, including the teacher, were immediately detained to assist with investigations.
Further screening found that three of the four suspects tested positive for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive compound found in cannabis.
Police believe the premises may have been used as a base for drug distribution activities in the area.
Mohd Rozaime said investigations are being conducted under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for possession of drugs and Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act for drug consumption.
Authorities are continuing investigations to determine the source of the drugs and whether the suspects are linked to a wider distribution network.
The arrests form part of ongoing efforts by police to combat drug-related activities and curb the spread of narcotics within local communities.
