Three people, including a husband and wife, were killed in a two-vehicle crash along KM31.2 of Jalan Kota Tinggi-Kluang on Sunday.
Kota Tinggi district police chief Superintendent Yusof Othman said police received information about the accident from members of the public at about 6.20pm.
He said the crash is believed to have occurred when a Honda BR-V travelling from Kota Tinggi towards Kluang skidded into the opposite lane before colliding with a Perodua Axia.
The BR-V was driven by a 42-year-old man with two male passengers, aged 58 and 42 respectively, while the Axia was driven by a 38-year-old man with a 34-year-old female passenger, who were husband and wife.
Yusof said the 58-year-old rear passenger in the BR-V and the female passenger in the front of the Axia suffered serious head and body injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Axia driver, meanwhile, died while being taken to hospital.
The BR-V driver and its front passenger also sustained injuries and were taken to Kota Tinggi Hospital for treatment.
The victims’ bodies were sent to the hospital’s Forensic Unit for further action.
Yusof said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
