Police have arrested three more men in Kuala Lumpur in connection with a viral video allegedly showing a group of individuals blocking the Second Link highway to facilitate an illegal motorcycle race.
The latest arrests bring the total number of suspects detained over the incident to 11. The incident is believed to have occurred at about 7am on Aug 22 along the highway between Kilometre 33 near the Senai toll exit and Kilometre 31 near the Johor Premium Outlet (JPO) interchange.
Kulai district police chief Assistant Commissioner Tan Seng Lee said the three latest suspects were arrested in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
“They are suspected of being involved in the illegal racing depicted in the viral video,” he said in a statement today.
Tan said police would seek a remand order at the Magistrate’s Court here today to allow investigators to keep the three men in custody while further investigations are carried out.
The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which covers reckless and dangerous driving.
Earlier, on Aug 23, police arrested eight men aged between 26 and 45, including a motorsport influencer, following the circulation of a 33-second video showing the highway allegedly being blocked to allow two motorcyclists to race.
The latest arrests reflect the authorities’ continued efforts to identify everyone allegedly involved in the incident, while police investigations remain ongoing.
