Thunderstorm Warning Issued For Parts Of Sarawak Until Noon

Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected in several areas across Sarawak until noon today, October 1.

The affected areas include Kuching, Samarahan, Serian and parts of Sri Aman, including Pantu, Lingga and Sri Aman.

The warning also covers Pusa and Kabong in Betong, Sarikei and Maradong in Sarikei, as well as Mukah.

Several areas in Sibu, Bintulu and Miri are also affected, including Selangau, Tatau, Bintulu, Subis and Miri.

The warning was issued at 8.55am today and is valid until 12pm.

An alert is issued when there are signs of thunderstorms accompanied by rainfall exceeding 20mm per hour that are occurring or expected to continue for more than an hour.

Thunderstorm warnings are short-term alerts and are valid for no more than six hours for each issuance.
