The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning involving Perlis, Kedah and several areas in Perak until 3pm today.
MetMalaysia said the affected areas in Perak include Larut, Matang and Selama as well as Hulu Perak, where thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected.
The department said the warning was issued after detecting signs of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour, which are either expected to occur soon or continue for more than an hour.
“Thunderstorm warnings are short-term alerts that are valid for no more than six hours from each issuance,” MetMalaysia said in a statement released at noon today.
Residents in the affected areas have been advised to remain cautious, avoid outdoor activities and stay updated on the latest weather developments through MetMalaysia’s official channels.
