Police have arrested a 19-year-old man—uncle to the toddler who was fatally mauled by wild dogs—to assist in the ongoing investigation.
Sungai Buloh District Police Chief Superintendent Mohd Hafeez confirmed in a statement this afternoon that the suspect, an Orang Asli youth, was arrested at 11:50 AM today.
According to the autopsy report, the toddler died from severe neck injuries caused by canine bites, confirming he was attacked and killed by a pack of aggressive dogs.
The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for negligence involving a child. Police are urging the public not to speculate and to come forward with any information. The tragedy occurred two days ago at around 8:40 AM, when Sungai Buloh Hospital notified police of the toddler’s death. The 1-year-7-month-old boy had suffered extensive bite wounds across his body and did not survive.
Initial investigations revealed the toddler had likely slipped out of the house while his uncle was asleep. He was attacked by a group of stray dogs just 20 meters from the front door, with bite marks found all over his head and body.
