Toyota Vios Driver Allegedly Threatens Man With Stick After Honking Dispute

Date:

Police have opened an investigation into an alleged road rage incident in which a driver was threatened with a wooden stick along Jalan Ipoh-Gopeng near Simpang Pulai on Sept 16.

Ipoh district police chief Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Najib Hamzah said police received a report over the incident, which allegedly occurred at about 4.56pm.

He said the incident reportedly began after the victim claimed his vehicle was cut off by a Toyota Vios, prompting him to honk at the vehicle.

“One of two men who got out of the vehicle allegedly pointed a wooden stick at the victim’s brother,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.

The incident was captured on a dashcam and later went viral on Threads.

Muhammad Najib said the case was being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.

“Efforts to trace the individuals involved are ongoing,” he said.

He also urged motorists to drive responsibly, remain calm and avoid aggressive behaviour when faced with disputes on the road.
