Three people died and three others were injured when their car skidded and overturned at Batu 18, Jalan Lahad Datu–Sandakan, earlier today.
The deceased, all Indonesian nationals, have been identified as Erna Jamalddin, 36; Harlina, 38; and Rajuddin, 41. The injured victims include Sudirman, 43; Marani Halaking, 46; and an unidentified woman in her 40s.
According to Lahad Datu Fire and Rescue Station Chief, Assistant Senior Fire Officer Sumsoa Rashid, emergency services received a call about the accident at 3:05 pm. A team of eight firefighters with two vehicles, including the Emergency Medical Rescue Services unit, was dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, responders found a Proton Saga BLM overturned with all occupants trapped inside. Using specialized equipment, they managed to extricate all six individuals. Three victims were pronounced dead at the scene by Health Ministry personnel, while the injured were rushed to Lahad Datu Hospital for treatment.
The operation concluded at 5:27 pm after the area was secured.
