Truck Driver Burned To Death After Fiery Crash On Karak Highway

A man was killed after the cement dust truck he was driving caught fire following an accident at Kilometer 28 of the Karak Highway, heading from Genting Sempah toward Kuala Lumpur, early Monday morning.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Assistant Director of Operations, Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar, said they received an emergency call at 4:21 a.m.

“A team of six firefighters and officers, along with a fire engine from the Selayang Fire and Rescue Station, rushed to the scene, about 55 kilometers away,” he said in a statement on Monday.

Upon arrival at 5:07 a.m., firefighters found the truck engulfed in flames, with around 60 percent of the vehicle burned.

“The driver, identified as 28-year-old Muhammad Izzat Kamarudin, was found burned beyond recognition and pronounced dead at the scene by the Health Ministry,” Ahmad Mukhlis said.

He added that the fire was fully brought under control at 5:12 a.m.
