Police have confirmed that the driver involved in a fatal accident that claimed the lives of two cyclists at Kilometre 9 of Jalan Persiaran Selatan, Putrajaya, last night has not been arrested.

“The driver did not sustain any injuries in the incident. He also lodged a police report and his statement has been recorded for investigation purposes.

“As of now, the driver has not been arrested. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said when contacted today.

The accident, which occurred at around 10.15pm, resulted in the deaths of Mohd Hilmi Tahar, 48, and Syazwan Zharif Abdul Karim, 30, who were pronounced dead at the scene.
