The search and rescue (SAR) operation for two drowning victims has ended after the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Water Rescue Unit recovered the body of the second victim on Sunday afternoon.
The victim was located by JBPM divers at around 3.55pm, approximately 80 metres from the spot where the pair were last seen.
The discovery brought the two-day multi-agency search operation to a close, with various agencies and local residents working together throughout the rescue effort.
A representative of the SAR team expressed condolences to the victims’ families while commending the strong cooperation between the participating agencies and members of the public who assisted in the operation.
The recovered body was subsequently handed over to the police for further action and a post-mortem examination before being released to the family for burial.
