Two Injured After Motorcycle Skids Along Sibu-Bintulu Road

Date:

Two individuals were injured after the motorcycle they were travelling on was involved in a self-accident at Simpang Impian Selangau, Jalan Sibu-Bintulu, on Friday evening.

The incident occurred at about 6.21pm, involving a 33-year-old male rider who suffered injuries and was found semi-conscious, while his 42-year-old female passenger also sustained injuries.

A spokesperson from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre said six firefighters from the Selangau Fire and Rescue Station were deployed to the scene with a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) vehicle after receiving an emergency call.

Upon arrival, firefighters found that the motorcycle had skidded and fallen in the middle of the road, causing injuries to both individuals.

“The firefighters assisted Ministry of Health (MOH) ambulance personnel in stabilising the male victim, who was still at the scene in a semi-conscious condition.

“The female victim was transported by a Civil Defence Force (APM) ambulance to Selangau Health Clinic for further treatment,” the spokesperson said in a statement.

The spokesperson added that the operation ended at 6.35pm after the victims were handed over to medical teams and debris from the accident site was cleared.

MOH and APM personnel were also present at the location to assist with rescue efforts and provide medical aid to the victims.
