Date:

Police arrested two men and seized 2,000 suspected yaba pills during a raid at a food court parking area in Bukit Yong, Pasir Puteh, yesterday evening.

Pasir Puteh District Police Chief Superintendent Saari Yaacob said the suspects, aged 21 and 28, were detained at about 6.40pm.

He said both men were found near a Yamaha RXZ motorcycle before police conducted an inspection and discovered 10 plastic packets containing the suspected drugs.

“The seized items consisted of 2,000 suspected yaba pills with an estimated value of RM20,000,” he said in a statement today.

Saari added that initial urine screening conducted on both suspects returned negative results for drugs.

The suspects have been remanded for seven days from today to assist investigations into the case.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
