Two Men Remanded Over Assault And Property Damage In Marang Shop Case

Two local men have been remanded by the Kuala Terengganu Magistrate’s Court to assist investigations into a case involving the assault of a foreign national and damage to property at a grocery store in Kampung Mak Kemas, Marang.

The remand order against the suspects, aged 21 and 23, was issued by Magistrate Sharifah Amirda Shasha Amir Shariffuddin.

Terengganu police chief Datuk Mohd Khairi Khairudin said authorities received a report involving a foreign man who was allegedly assaulted by a group of local men.

The incident is believed to have occurred around 7.25pm at a shop in Kampung Mak Kemas, Marang.

Police said the case is believed to have stemmed from a misunderstanding between the victim and several local individuals, resulting in injuries and damage to property.

Quick action by members of the public, together with police who arrived at the scene, helped bring the situation under control.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt using a weapon or dangerous means, as well as Section 427 for committing mischief.
