Two men have been remanded for seven days until Tuesday to assist investigations into the alleged assault of a foreign national at a grocery store in Kampung Mak Kemas, Marang, yesterday.

The remand order was issued by Magistrate Sharifah Amirda Shasha Amir Shariffuddin at the Magistrate’s Court here today.

Terengganu police chief Datuk Mohd Khairi Khairudin said the detention of the two men, believed to be in their 20s, followed a report lodged by the victim at the Marang District Police Headquarters at about 7.25pm yesterday.

He said the suspects are accused of assaulting a 34-year-old man at a grocery store in Marang.

“Preliminary investigations found that the incident stemmed from a misunderstanding involving the victim and the two suspects,” he said.
