Two men, aged 40 and 23, have been remanded for three days to assist investigations into an alleged case of mischief by fire involving a convenience store along Jalan Green in Kuching.
Senior Court Registrar Syazwani Sajeli granted the remand application after hearing submissions from investigating officer Inspector Tan Chiang Fook and lawyer Daniel Ling.
The two suspects were ordered to be remanded from Sept 23 to Sept 26 under Section 436 of the Penal Code.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 8.30pm on Sept 20 at the convenience store in Sin Sin Park, Jalan Green.
The 40-year-old suspect was arrested at a premises in Sibu at about 2.40pm on Sept 22, while the 23-year-old suspect was arrested at about 9.30pm the same day at a café along Jalan Nanas in Sarikei.
The case is one of two reported incidents of mischief by fire in Kuching and Sri Aman on Sept 20, involving premises belonging to the same convenience store chain.
Three suspects have so far been arrested and remanded to assist investigations into the two incidents.
