Two Motorcycles Collide At Junction, One Rider Dead, One Critical

A motorcyclist was killed while another rider was seriously injured in a crash near a traffic light at Jalan Kuda Kepang, Taman Ria Jaya, early Sunday morning.

In the incident at about 2.30am, a rider in his 40s died at the scene, while another rider in his 20s sustained serious injuries after their motorcycles collided at the junction.

Kuala Muda district police chief Assistant Commissioner Hanyan Ramlan said one of the motorcycles was travelling straight from Jalan Cinta Sayang towards Taman Ria Jaya, while the other was exiting from the Jalan PKNK junction.

“The accident is believed to have occurred when both motorcycles collided at the traffic light junction,” he said.

He added that investigations will cover all aspects, including compliance with traffic light signals.

Police have also urged witnesses or anyone with information on the incident to come forward to assist investigations.

The case is being probed under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

The victim’s remains were sent to the Forensic Unit of Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital (HSAH) for post-mortem examination.

In a separate incident at Tikam Batu around 8am, a woman motorcyclist in her 60s was also killed in a road accident involving a car.
