Two Siblings Charged With Murder of 33-Year-Old DJ

Two siblings appeared in the Sibu Magistrate’s Court today, charged with the murder of a nightclub DJ in Kapit on September 18.

No plea was recorded from the accused, aged 36 and 30, after the charges were read tentatively before Magistrate Oon Kork Chern. The magistrate set November 13 for the next case mention at the Kapit Court and denied bail for both individuals.

According to the charges, the 36-year-old is accused of murdering the 33-year-old victim, while his younger sibling is charged with abetting the murder.

The first accused faces charges under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty or imprisonment of not less than 30 years and not more than 40 years, along with a minimum of 12 strokes of the cane if the death penalty is not imposed. The second accused is charged under Section 109 read together with Section 302 for abetting the crime.

The alleged offences occurred around 10:30 p.m. on September 18 at the sidewalk area of a nightclub on Jalan Tun Jugah, Kapit. The prosecution was led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Haris Danial Mohamed Hassan, while both accused were unrepresented in court.
