Two teenage boys were arrested after allegedly crashing into a police officer while attempting to flee a roadblock during an anti-street racing operation at Taman Panchor Jaya here yesterday.
Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said the suspects, aged 14 and 15, were riding a Honda EX5 motorcycle when the incident occurred at around 6.45pm. Law enforcement operations targeting illegal riding activities have continued to intensify in residential areas where reckless behaviour is increasingly being reported.
According to him, both teenagers were said to have acted aggressively in trying to escape the checkpoint before colliding with an officer on duty. The impact caused injuries including bruises to the head, right ankle, right hand and waist. Authorities often warn that such actions not only endanger road users but also place enforcement personnel at serious risk during routine operations.
The injured officer was later sent to the emergency department of Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital for treatment and was allowed to return home after checks confirmed no serious injuries. Incidents involving fleeing suspects and enforcement personnel collisions have been highlighted as a growing concern in road safety enforcement efforts.
Alzafny added that urine screening conducted on both individuals returned negative results. The 14-year-old rider has been remanded for two days until tomorrow to assist investigations.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, as well as Sections 186 and 332 of the Penal Code. Authorities emphasised that strict action will be taken in cases involving obstruction or harm to law enforcement officers during duty.
In the same operation lasting six hours, police issued 49 summonses for various offences, including riding without helmets, lack of driving licences and illegal exhaust modifications. A total of 12 motorcycles were also seized as part of enforcement action aimed at curbing illegal street riding activities.
