Two Trams Collide In Germany Leaving 27 Injured

Date:

At least 27 people were injured, including five seriously, after two trams collided in a terrifying accident in Düsseldorf.

The crash happened at around 11.30am on Saturday near the intersection of Berliner Allee and Graf-Adolf-Straße in the Friedrichstadt district.

According to local authorities, both trams were carrying around 60 passengers at the time of the collision.

Emergency crews and firefighters rushed to the scene following the violent crash, while several injured passengers were treated on-site before being taken to hospital.

Officials said another 28 people escaped the incident without injuries.

German police have since launched an investigation into the cause of the collision.

Local reports suggested that one of the trams may have been travelling on the wrong track before the crash occurred.

The Rheinische Post also reported that a possible track switch malfunction could have contributed to the accident.

Firefighters later confirmed that none of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries despite the severity of the impact.

The shocking incident has once again raised concerns over tram safety in Europe following several recent rail-related accidents.

The Düsseldorf collision comes after another horrifying tram disaster in Milan, where a tram reportedly derailed and crashed into a storefront.

That earlier accident left two people dead and 49 injured after the tram suddenly veered off the tracks while travelling toward the Porta Genova district.

Passengers from the Milan crash described hearing a deafening noise moments before the tram derailed.

One survivor said the impact felt “like an earthquake” as passengers were violently thrown around inside the carriage.

Another passenger recalled hearing loud sounds underneath the tram before it suddenly accelerated and slammed into a building.
