Two young children found wandering without adult supervision at Taman Jubli Perak in Sungai Petani were rescued by police before being handed over to the Social Welfare Department (JKM) for their safety.
Kuala Muda District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Hanyan Ramlan said police received a report from members of the public about two unattended children at the park. A patrol team from the Mobile Patrol Vehicle (MPV) Unit was immediately dispatched to the location.
Upon arrival, officers found an eight-year-old girl and a four-year-old boy at the park without their parents or any guardian accompanying them.
“For safety reasons, both children were brought to the Kuala Muda District Police Headquarters before being handed over to the Social Welfare Department in accordance with established procedures,” Hanyan said.
Police have since located the children’s family members and are conducting further investigations to determine why the two children were left at the park without supervision.
Hanyan said police will continue working closely with the Social Welfare Department to ensure the children’s welfare is protected. Appropriate action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation.
