Woman Arrested As Police Seize Suspected Ketum Worth Nearly RM1,000 In Putatan Raid

A 43-year-old local woman was arrested after police seized suspected ketum liquid and leaves worth an estimated RM975 during a raid in Putatan.

Penampang Police Chief Superintendent Sammy Newton said officers from the Penampang Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division carried out the operation at a house in Kampung Ulu Seberang at about 1pm on June 19.

The raid was conducted following information received by police regarding suspected ketum-related activities at the premises.

During the operation, officers detained the woman and discovered 30 plastic bottles containing liquid believed to be ketum.

Police also seized a white plastic sack filled with green leaves suspected to be ketum leaves.

In addition, several items believed to have been used in the processing of ketum liquid were confiscated for further investigation.

Sammy said the total value of the seized items was estimated at RM975.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 30(3) of the Poisons Act 1952.

Police have urged members of the public with information related to drug activities or the distribution of ketum products to come forward and assist authorities.

Investigations into the case are ongoing.
