Woman Rescued After Jumping From Kuching’s Darul Hana Bridge

Date:

A woman was rescued after reportedly jumping from the Darul Hana Bridge at Kuching Waterfront in an incident that was captured on video and later circulated on social media.

Kuching district police chief Assistant Commissioner Alexson Naga Chabu said police received a report regarding the incident on Aug 14, 2026, after a 35-second video recording began circulating online.

He said the woman has since been identified and is receiving further treatment at the Yellow Zone of the Emergency and Trauma Unit at Sarawak General Hospital.

“The victim is reported to be in stable condition and conscious after receiving treatment at the hospital,” he said.

Preliminary investigations found that the incident was believed to be linked to personal problems. However, police are continuing their investigation to determine the actual circumstances and motive behind the incident.

Police also confirmed that they had traced the video recording related to the incident, which was widely shared on social media following the incident.

Alexson urged members of the public not to speculate or circulate unverified information about the case, saying such actions could complicate the investigation and cause unnecessary concern.

He also reminded the public not to engage in actions that could endanger their own lives or put others at risk. Anyone with information about the incident has been urged to assist the investigation by contacting the Kuching district police headquarters.

The latest incident occurred less than two weeks after a 25-year-old man was fined RM200, or two days in jail if he failed to pay, by the Kuching Magistrates’ Court on Aug 6.

Mohamad Sufian Daud pleaded guilty to jumping from the same Darul Hana Bridge into the Sarawak River on July 23. The repeated incidents have also drawn attention to the need for public awareness and appropriate intervention when individuals are believed to be facing personal difficulties.
