Young Rider Killed After Running Red Light In Kota Tinggi Crash

A young man was killed after allegedly running a red light in a crash involving a motorcycle and a Toyota Hilux at a four-way traffic junction along Jalan Kolam Air early this morning.

The victim, identified as 21-year-old Mohd Amirul Afiq Yusland, was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries sustained in the accident.

Kota Tinggi District Police Chief Superintendent Yusof Othman said police received information on the incident at about 2.20am.

He said the crash involved a Toyota Hilux driven by a 71-year-old local man with a male passenger, and a Yamaha 135LC motorcycle ridden by the 21-year-old victim.

Preliminary investigations found that the accident is believed to have occurred when the motorcyclist allegedly ran a red light while the Toyota Hilux had a green signal.

The rider suffered serious head and body injuries and was confirmed dead at the scene by medical personnel.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Police have urged witnesses with information on the incident to come forward and assist investigations at the Kota Tinggi Traffic Investigation Division.
