12 Police Officers Linked To Crypto Robbery Put Under Close Supervision

Date:

Twelve police officers suspected of involvement in a cryptocurrency-related robbery case involving a foreign national have been placed under close supervision by their respective unit heads.

Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar confirmed that all officers involved have been removed from active field operations. However, he clarified that they have not been suspended from duty.

According to a report by BuletinTV3, Shazeli said the officers remain on active service but are no longer assigned to frontline duties and are being closely monitored within their respective units.

“The investigation is still ongoing pending technical reports. If there are new developments, we will share updates,” he said during a press conference involving the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department and the Commercial Crime Investigation Department at the Selangor police headquarters.

He added that while the officers are still officially working, they have been reassigned away from operational roles as the probe continues.

Previously, media reports stated that 12 police personnel, including four officers from Bukit Aman’s Commercial Crime Investigation Department, were detained over alleged involvement in an organised robbery involving approximately RM200,000 worth of cryptocurrency from a group of Chinese nationals.

Those detained reportedly include officers of various ranks, ranging from assistant superintendent and inspector to sergeant, corporal, lance corporal and constable, aged between 24 and 47.
