345 Rolls-Royce, 675 Ferrari Owners Skip Road Tax — JPJ Under Fire!

Date:

The issue of luxury car owners failing to pay their road tax was raised in Parliament today, with Jelutong MP RSN Rayer urging firm action against those involved.

Although the matter was not highlighted in the Auditor-General’s Report (LKAN) 3/2025, the Pakatan Harapan (PH) lawmaker said the negligence of luxury vehicle owners — including VIPs — had resulted in revenue losses amounting to over RM35 million.

Rayer questioned why the Road Transport Department (JPJ) allowed such vehicles to be registered and used in Malaysia despite unpaid road tax.

“I was intrigued by the LKAN report regarding revenue collection from vehicle registration numbers. We also thank the Transport Minister, Anthony Loke, for revealing that many luxury vehicles have been purchased without paying road tax.

“It is understood that there are 345 Rolls-Royces owned by individuals and VIPs with arrears totaling RM6.4 million. This is followed by 372 Lamborghinis (RM3.7 million), 660 Bentleys (RM7 million), 675 Ferraris (RM4.7 million), and 4,308 Porsches (RM13.7 million),” he said while debating the report.

Rayer urged the Transport Ministry and enforcement agencies to take immediate action against these vehicle owners.

Last month, BH reported that prominent figures, including Tan Sris, politicians, and business elites, were among those who had failed to renew their road tax — with total arrears amounting to RM35.7 million.

Loke previously said the figure was based on five categories of luxury cars recorded by JPJ and called on the owners to settle their outstanding taxes.

Separately, Rayer expressed appreciation to the government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for successfully securing the safe return of 23 Malaysian activists who participated in the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) humanitarian mission.

“I would like to congratulate the Prime Minister and the Cabinet for ensuring the safe return of all 23 activists from the GSF voyage, who are expected to arrive home tonight. This is a testament to Anwar’s leadership in safeguarding Malaysians involved in humanitarian missions abroad,” he said
